July 30, 2021, Animal Protection League (APL) will host their annual Delta Dog Day UNLEASHED Poker Run. We are inviting you to join us in this fast and fun event in support of improving the lives of homeless and abandoned animals in the City of Stockton and San Joaquin County.
This year we have made participating even easier and more enjoyable for ALL boaters. This exciting event will have two routes - one for leisure/recreational boaters (60mph or less) and one for high performance boats. The leisure group will start from Garlic Brothers Restaurant while the need-for-speed participants will begin at Orwood Resort. Registration will open at 8 a.m. at both spots and will close at 10 a.m. Breakfast on-the-go will be offered to all participants. You will have a day of fun on the Delta. It will include live music, event shirts, and swag bags for all attendees, as well as professional overhead boat crew action photography. From your starting point, you will continue to multiple stops before all boaters end the run at Windmill Cove with check-in between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The evening will conclude with dinner, a high-end silent auction, fun raffle prizes, as well as the announcement of the Poker Run winner. The top three poker hand prizes will total over $10,000!
The Animal Protection League (APL) has been in existence since 1996. Every day, our work involves supporting/staffing the Stockton Animal Shelter and the community it serves. We have recently expanded our work to include a community outreach program and caring for pets of the homeless. There has been a vast improvement to animal welfare in Stockton and San Joaquin County, but there is still much to do.
We hope you will join us in “Chasing Tail on the Delta” and becoming UNLEASHED as we make the most of summer 2021! We are eternally grateful for all levels of partnership. Our work is only possible because of your participation and generosity. You will directly impact our ability to continue to support, help and raise awareness of animals in dire need.

The Animal Protection League supports the Stockton Animal Shelter and the community it serves. Every year the shelter takes in over 10,000 animals from the city of Stockton and unincorporated areas of San Joaquin County. They are an open admission shelter. APL is committed to reducing dog and cat populations through a spay/neuter program, increasing the placement of animals through adoption events and rescue partners, and facilitating the return of lost pets to their owners, by micro-chipping and online information.
Our 2020 poker run was epic! UNLEASHED 2021 is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. Not just another poker run, but a GREAT day for a GREAT cause.
Let's chase tail on the Delta!
